Mechanical Engineer - High-Rise Residential & Building Services

An established and respected UK-based engineering consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer on a 6-month contract to support the delivery of major residential developments.


Renowned for producing high-quality, detailed, and sustainable M&E design solutions, this consultancy is committed to exceeding client expectations through technical excellence and collaborative project delivery.

As part of a forward-thinking and quality-driven team, you'll be helping to bring large-scale residential projects to life-managing mechanical system designs, producing detailed calculations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for high-rise residential buildings, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and plumbing systems.
  • Perform detailed mechanical calculations to ensure compliance with building regulations and client specifications.
  • Produce comprehensive design documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and efficient design solutions.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, including those set by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
  • Manage the design process from concept through to construction, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.


What We're Looking For:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design engineering, particularly within the residential sector.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and calculation tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of building services systems and regulations.
  • Experience in producing detailed mechanical calculations and design documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


Desirable:

  • Membership with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
  • Experience with BIM Level 2 workflows and tools like Navisworks or BIM 360.
